How to Create a ConvoBot

You can get started today at signup.smartconvos.com. In this article, we’ll walk you through the steps of creating a ConvoBot.

  1. On the main Campaigns page, select the campaign you’d like to work on and click Create New Channel.
  2. On the Channel Selection page, click on Select ConvoBot.
  3. Enter the Basic Information for your ConvoBot. What will you call it and what would you like for it to do? Select a goal type and number, so that you can keep track of whether the bot is hitting its goals. Also, include what website you plan to put the bot on, and the services that your company offers. When you’re done, click Next.
  4. Now, create the design of your ConvoBot. Enter a header title showing what you want to appear at the top of the chat window. Write a text field placeholder to show in the message entry box until the customer starts typing. You can also choose your avatar or upload a small image to use instead.
  5. When you’re happy with how your bot looks, click Submit & Finalize

Congratulations, you’ve just created a ConvoBot!

  1. Once you’ve created a campaign, you can start adding channels. Let’s create a channel for the My Awesome Brand! campaign.
  2. Select which kind of channel you want to create. You can choose a ConvoBot, which is typically placed onto your own website, or a ConvoAd, which is distributed as a display advertisement through other websites. Let’s start by creating a ConvoAd.
  3. First, enter the Basic Information for your advertisement. Create a title, description, and goal for your bot. You can also set a budget and timeline for your advertisement, as well as indicating which demographics you wish to target. Click Next when you’re ready to move forward.
  4. On this screen, you can customize what your ConvoAd will look like. Upload your own logo file and ad creative, and choose your avatar and theme color. Once you’re happy with how it looks, click Submit and Finalize.

Congratulations, you’ve just created your first ConvoAd!

How to Create Your First Conversational Campaign

Conversational advertising is changing the way that companies interact with their customers. Using this technology has been proven to increase engagement and conversions. Chatbots are here to stay and it’s the perfect time to integrate them into your company’s marketing strategy. You can get started today at signup.smartconvos.com. After you create your login, just follow these easy steps to create your first campaign.

  1. Click the triangle at the top right of the screen, then select Add Campaign.
  2. Give your campaign a name, then click submit.
  3. Congratulations, you’ve just created your first campaign! Click View Campaigns to return to the campaign dashboard, where you can view all your campaigns and add Channels.

Currently, we offer two types of Channels that you can create on your own:

  • ConvoAds are chatbots that exist within a display advertisement. You can distribute your ConvoAd through any DSP that accepts third-party ad tags, or take advantage of our partnerships with AudienceX and Centro to have us distribute them for you.   • ConvoBots are chatbots that you can put into the code for your company’s website. They can answer questions, gather customer information, or direct them around the site. Read this article to learn How to Create a ConvoBot.

A third type of Channel is coming soon! ConvoPages are landing pages featuring a chatbot that can provide personalized content throughout the page based on the customer’s conversation with the bot. We working hard to integrate this process into our self-service platform. Once you’ve created your ConvoAd or ConvoBot, you need to tell it what to say. Follow these easy steps to create a script for your bot to use when speaking with customers.

  1. After you’ve submitted and finalized the design for your ad or bot, you will be directed to the Conversation Flow Screen. You have multiple options on this screen. Let’s start by adding a bot message.conversational ad chat bot
  2. In the text field, type what you’d like for the bot to say. Then click submit.conversational ad chat bot
  3. Another option is to Prompt a User Action. Use this when you want to ask something of your customer.conversational advertising chat bot
  4.  For this first prompt, we will ask the user what their name is. To do this, we select the tab that says Ask Question, and then from the circled drop-down, select Name. The question and response text will automatically populate, but you can edit them to say something different if you prefer. Click Submit when you are done.conversational display ad chat bot
  5.  Another option under Prompt User Action is Quick Replies. Use this when you want to give the customer some options for responses that they can choose between. Type your message in the field and then type the reply options. You can add more options by clicking Add Quick Reply. When you’re done editing the message and options, click Submit.conversational ad chat bot
  6. Now that we’ve given the customer some options to choose between, we need to create a custom response for each option. Start by clicking the first option.conversational ad chat bot
  7.  You can add a bot message, as we’ve done, by clicking create new message. You can also click Connect to Existing Path to link your customer into another part of the conversation. Use the back arrow to return to the main conversation script.
  8. When you click Existing Path, you’ll see this drop down which lists the entire conversation you’ve created so far. If you want to link them back into a later point, you need to have already created that message or question, as we’ve done with this request for the customer’s email address. Once you’ve picked the place that the conversation should pick up, click Submit. 
  9. You might change your mind about a message that you’ve created. Place your cursor over the message to be given the option to edit or delete the message.
  10. You can click See Basic Transcript to get an overview of what your conversation will look like.
  11. You can save a draft of the conversation and come back to edit it later. Once you’re happy with the script you’ve created, click Publish. The script will then be submitted to our Quality Control review process. Your bot will be ready to chat in 24-48 hours.
  12. In the meantime, you can immediately access the code for your ConvoAd or ConvoBot. Click Get Your Code on the left hand menu.
  13. You’ll then see your embed code, which you can put into your website or the dashboard for your DSP provider.

Congratulations! You’ve just created your first Conversational AI script.

Smart Convos Welcomes Jocelyn Bergdorff as Sr. Developer

Smart Convos is excited to welcome Jocelyn Bergdorff to the team as our first Lead Developer. Jocelyn recently completed Coding Bootcamp at Digital Crafts, where she participated in TechStars Startup Weekend and learned a variety of full-stack development skills ranging from HTML/CSS to Node.js and everything in between.

Jocelyn has a BS in Business Administration from Webber International University. She has worked in a number of community volunteerism and support roles and has a background in photography, legal studies, and retail management. A lifelong tech enthusiast, she is excited to start her development career working on our Conversational AI platform.
